Murray’s Cheese Shop has existed on its little stretch of Bleecker St. for decades—But since 2012 they’ve been featuring a full-service restaurant in Manhattan with cheeses plucked right from their cheese caves in Long Island City. The Farmer’s Burger at Murray’s Cheese Bar is a grass-fed beef burger with 3 cheeses melted on top: Cow, Goat, and Sheep cheeses. The burger is served with pickled farm veggies and paired with Napa Valley Pinot Noir, a light-bodied and fruit forward wine that cuts through Murray’s creamy, cheesy, dreamy offering.

About Rachel Freier – Cheese & Wine Director

Rachel is a CCP certified cheese professional by the American Cheese Society. She is happy to discuss microbes, cheese rinds and hay for as long as you let her. Rachel worked as a restaurant manager for many years until she discovered her true culinary calling in cheese. As part of the opening crew of Murray’s Cheese’s first cheese-centric restaurant, “Cheese Bar”, Rachel has grown to direct their cheese & beverage program and has been an intrinsic part in founding their “Meet the Maker” series; dinner partnerships showcasing producers of cheese, wine and beer with pairings curated by Rachel and rotating Cheese Bar chefs. Her culinary creativity and passion for cheese has led her to create her most recent culinary cheese accomplishment, Mongers’ Table, a 10 course cheese tasting menu paired with wines. Rachel regularly consults on restaurant menus, beverage and cheese programs.
